The Pettys welcome you to Virginia ! The Chestnut Oak area has an interesting history. It is revealing many treasured artifacts that date back to the American Indian, early Virginia settlers and the Civil War. A 1750 log cabin remains here on "Jaw Bone" Mountain. Hand prints can still be seen in the mud daubings between logs of this historic cabin. Civil War soldiers marched over this scenic land in the 1860s. Early Virginia settlers farmed this land and it remains as farm land. It also continues to provide a safe haven for wild life. The Pettys are committed to preserving this status.
